Recruitment
Thank you for your interest in the Gibsons & District Volunteer Fire Department. We are a Volunteer Organization responding to the Emergency needs of our community. It is a very rewarding vocation, but there is a minimum commitment that we need and expect from our members.
For consideration as a member of the Gibsons & District Volunteer Fire Department the following is required:
- Completion of the Application Form.
- Successful interview with the Officers of the GDVFD.
- Successful completion of the Recruit Training Program.
- Successful completion of the Firefighter Physical Aptitude Course within 6 minutes.
Upon completion of the above, you will need a minimum 75% acceptance of the regular members by vote, after your 6 month probationary period. You will also need to attend a minimum of 16 hrs of training per quarter, and 20% of all emergency call outs.
